The client’s vision was to create a legacy building for the local community which would meet shared needs and provide a place where everyone would feel welcome. Following extensive community consultation, the design fulfils the aspirations and expectations of the various users, providing a home for multiple charities, as well as a gathering spaces for the community. The site was formerly a railway halt, and the roof form reflects the railway sheds that once occupied the site. The building sits as a three–dimensional sculpture on a community interface, along a linear parkway, accommodating various users under one roof.
The design achieved a BREEAM Excellent sustainability standard.
